Thickson’s Woods Bat Project
Under more pressure and misconceptions than just about any other mammal, these wonderful creatures are essential to any ecosystem. We are using the latest Bat detection technology to monitor the Bats of the reserve and determine the numbers of species and population densities. We are doing a baseline study to determine what species visit the Thickson’s Woods Reserve.
So far we have discovered that six of the eight species of bats found in Ontario visit the Thickson’s Woods Reserve – three of which are Provincially threatened. Survey reports are available for download.
